In the summertime, the Hochkar is a farmed alpine pasture area at an altitude of 1,380 – 1,808 m and starting point of more than 150 km of marked hiking trails across the Göstling Alps.

You can get to the Hochkar summit by taking the detachable 4-seater chairlift and a 20-min. walk. Lovely views of the picturesque mountain landscape, flowering meadows and deep forests ensure relaxing holidays for the whole family. [ More on this subject ]

Magnificent panoramic views

The Hochkar cave is the third-largest cave in Lower Austria and has stalactite and stalagmite formations. The Pentecost Cave and the Strata Cave are show caves and open to the public. These parts also have electric lighting.

The Pentecost Cave has a length of 35 m, a width of 15 m and a height of up to 20 m. The Strata Cave has similar dimensions and Göstling’s parish church could easily fit into both of them. The amazing dripstone “organ” is a firm part of the guided tour. The guided tour takes about 1.5 hours.
