A natural snow assurance has always existed on Hochkar. As a result of it’s climatic conditions Hochkar has on approx. 1500m a vegetation as somewhere else in the Alps on 2000m. Because of the rough climate there are already dwarf pines and a combat zone in the nature.

Thus Hochkar has always assured snow, until 3 seasons ago the condensations didn’t come. So a snowing plant was installed. The water for artificial snowmaking is extracted from a pond with a capacity of 90.000 m³, which gives drinking water quality. The storage pond resides on a sea level of 1570 m.

With this snowing plant an area of 40 hectares is treated (altogether 60 hectares of slopes on the Hochkar).
