When children stand on skis for the very first time, it creates moments you never forget. That is exactly why SKIKIDS 2025 exists – a unique nationwide initiative by SPORTLAND Lower Austria, the Lower Austrian Ski Federation and the Lower Austrian Ski Instructors’ Association. And this year, Hochkar is part of it again!

A free course for true beginners

SKIKIDS 2025 is aimed exclusively at complete beginners without any alpine experience. Eligible participants:

  • Children aged 5–10 (ski)
  • Children aged 8–12 (snowboard)
  • each with main residence in Lower Austria

The program includes a free 2-day beginner course led by certified ski and snowboard instructors. The package also includes:

  • a warm lunch
  • midday supervision
  • child-friendly technique training
  • lots of fun in the snow

Course dates at Hochkar

The first SKIKIDS courses take place from 06–07 December 2025 – including here at Hochkar.

Additional courses will be held from 13–14 December 2025 in other ski areas across Lower Austria. The alternative date for all courses is 20–21 December 2025.

Across all participating ski areas, a total of 800 places are available – and they usually fill up very quickly.

A special gift: the season pass

After successfully completing the course, children receive an exciting reward: On their next visit to the ski area, they get a season pass for free.

This ensures that the joy of skiing continues throughout the entire winter season.

Registration & sign-up

Participation is free of charge, but timely registration is essential:

  • Registration opens on 3 November 2025 at 12:00
  • Course sign-up begins on 14 November 2025 at 14:00
  • Registration and sign-up are available exclusively via the project website.

Places are allocated based on the order of sign-up, not by the registration date.

Important: After registering, please make sure to click the confirmation link sent to you by email – otherwise the process is not completed.

Helmet requirement: Helmets are mandatory for all participating children.

Tip

SKIKIDS spots typically fill up within minutes each year – we therefore recommend registering as early as possible.
