The skiing vacation or day trip is just around the corner, the things are packed - now the only question is: What is the best and most comfortable way to travel to the Hochkar? Many roads lead to Rome and also up to the Hochkar. No matter if you travel by car or by public transport - the Hochkar is definitely worth a visit!
Arrival by Car to Hochkar
Via the A1 West Motorway
From Vienna: Drivers travelling from Vienna towards Hochkar should take the A1 motorway in the direction of Salzburg and exit at Ybbs. After leaving the motorway, continue on federal road B25 towards Göstling an der Ybbs. About six kilometres after the town centre, you will reach Lassing. Turn left onto Hochkarstraße and follow the mountain road up to the valley station. After approximately nine kilometres, you will arrive at your destination.
From Salzburg: Visitors coming from Salzburg should take the A1 motorway and exit at Amstetten West for the fastest and most convenient route. At the second exit in the roundabout, follow federal road B121 towards Waidhofen an der Ybbs. Passing through the town, continue on regional road L31 to Göstling an der Ybbs. Six kilometres after the town centre, in Lassing, turn left onto Hochkarstraße and follow the road up the mountain. After approximately nine kilometres, you will reach your destination.
Good to know: From both motorway exits it is approximately 60 kilometres to Göstling an der Ybbs.

If snow chains are required due to weather conditions, we provide up-to-date information via a clearly visible pop-up on all pages of our website as well as in our online shop.
