Description
Hochkar and Dürrenstein
The last primeval forest in Central Europe is within easy reach and yet inaccessible. You hike from the well-kept ski circus on the Hochkar across alpine meadows and unspoilt countryside right into the heart of a rustic region: into the retreat of the last Ötscher bear, into forests where the beetle can still gnaw with impunity. Over sharp rocky ridges from one alpine authority to another. From Hochkar to Dürrenstein, both over 1,800 meters high. In between, the Tremelsattel as the only escape point to pinch out. A 30-kilometre mountain tour experience that is rarely found anywhere else in the Northern Limestone Alps. A two-day tour for rugged alpinists!
